Health Care Programs
We are dedicated to change. See how our programs are making a difference in the Haitian community.
Haitian Healthcare
Clinic la Déliverance is our clinic in Jean Michel, Haiti. Haitian doctors, nurses, and staff provide primary care, minor emergency care, and medicine to patients in need.
Community Healthcare Education
Nearly 6% of children in Haiti die before reaching their first birthday, the highest mortality rate in the western hemisphere. To combat this, Empowering Haiti’s Community Health Education program teaches infant and toddler care, good hygiene habits, basic nutrition information, and food safety to parents.
Nutrition Program
Almost 81% of Jean Michel’s population does not receive a daily meal. To decrease this staggering number, our staff provides nutritious meals to children, seniors, at-risk adults, and pregnant or nursing mothers.
Micro-lending
When women succeed, it creates a powerful ripple effect that is felt in families, schools, and communities. Our program has empowered over 300 Haitian women to become entrepreneurs for their families.
Ivy Jane Baby Rooms
Ivy Jane Yoder, from Kalona, IA, was just 18 months old when she died of a bacterial infection, a common occurrence in Haiti. In her honor, Empowering Haiti provides prenatal care, childbirth services, and infant/toddler care at the Clinic la Déliverance.
Hally’s Children’s Care House
Hally Yust died at 9 years old of Naegleria Fowleri, a rare amoeba that attacks the brain. In her memory, Empowering Haiti plans to build a Children’s Care House to provide temporary shelter and care for severely malnourished children.
