Empowered Women Empower Women

Since 1999, our Micro-Lending Program has been empowering women of Haiti. Each woman receives a small loan ($100-$150) and makes payments twice a month with a 5% interest. The interest goes into their bank account and is used to maintain the program and create further entrepreneurial opportunities.

Each woman uses her loan to start her own business. Their businesses vary, with the majority being small stores on the side of the road or in front of their houses. Most women buy basic goods, such as rice, beans, tomato paste or oil, to resell in their neighborhood, and some women grow vegetables to sell.
